January Member of the Month

January AOM - Shannon Gladden

 

Congratulations to our member of the month, Shannon Gladden!!!

 

We decided to start our year of strong with one strong mama to be! Shannon was nominated by the coaches and the staff due to her efforts at the box. Even though she is getting prepared to be a new mom, with all the changes, stresses and responsibilities that brings, she still finds time to make it in to the gym to workout and stay active. She never ceases to amaze us with her wonderful attitude and energy. These characteristics are exactly what we want to see in our members!

We look forward to having her happy, infectious personality back in the gym after having her little man.

What are your favorite movements? 

             Kettle bells, PC, Push Press

What is your least favorite movement?

           Front squats

How did you get into CrossFit and how long have you been training?

I had just spent a summer with a trainer at a local gym and wasn’t satisfied. John had started with CrossFit in the same summer and loved it. I decided to try the Koolaid and loved it! I’ve been doing CrossFit for about 3 years since.

What is your favorite thing about CrossFit?

When I first started, it was about the change I saw in my physical self. I had lost weight, toned and felt the most confident I had been in many years. Now it’s about getting stronger and doing it in a community that helps to motivate.

What do you like most about CrossFit Vae Victis?

It’s very motivating to be working out with a group of people who are all there for the same reason, but with different goals. It’s challenging, but the coaches help to motivate and push you to make PRs!

Favorite cheat food?

          There are so many!! I love Reeses Cup Flurries, nachos, fries, and pizza! You know the pregnant munchies!

Tell us one interesting fact about you others may not know.

         I have a background in acting and singing. I would love to perform on stage again one day.

Name one goal or personal record you want to achieve in the next year?

After the baby, I would love to get down to my pre-wedding weight , which was achieved in the first 7 months of starting CrossFit. Also, I would love to get double-unders and rope climbs.
